Tarkwa United for Premier League

Tarkwa United fired up for Premier League The quest to play in the Ghanaian top flight football league is one that Tarkwa United long set before the beginning of the 2010/11 Division One League season. That they are just 3 Middle League matches away from realising it come end of the season, is as remarkable as how close they have come, having never come any close to this stage in two decades of trying.

Ahmed Zarouk, Chairman of Tarkwa United, has exclusively told All Sports that his side will not relent but work hard to beat Wassaman United, Denkyira Stars and Deportivo when the Division One League’s Zone 2 Middle League finally kicks off.

“We are very focused on qualifying for the Premiership, it’s something we’ve worked for all season and now that we are so close, there can be no turning back. It’s a target we set before the season even started and now our players are determined to make it happen. Management will do our part by giving them all the support,” Mr. Zarouk has told ALL SPORTS.

Tarkwa United will play in the Zone 2 Middle League even though former Premiership campaigners Sekondi Eleven Wise are still challenging that prospect. Eleven Wise refused to continue with play after conceding a 74th minute goal in the much awaited replay of their controversial unhonoured Division One League match at Tarkwa last month.

The referee apparently waited for the remaining 17 minutes of regulation time but wise refused to proceed with play but the Sekondi have protested to the Division One League Board to order a replay. It is a prospect Wise are not giving up on even though they have already been declared losers and suffering a 4 point deduction for their conduct.

Tarkwa United meanwhile march on and are looking forward to Glo Ghana Premiership action next season. “For us it’s left with the three matches more in the Middle League that we have to win to book our Premier League ticket. And we are very sure of achieving that because we have the players to do it.

“We are preparing seriously for the middle league, we are determined to join the Premier League Board. It will be a dream come true,” Robert Quansah, Administrative Manager of Tarkwa United tells ALL SPORTS.
