Stars ready for eagles

In his team-building drive against Nigeria on Sunday, Black Stars coach, E. K. Afranie is relishing the inclusion of his players from Kotoko who finished their continental club assignment last Sunday.

The Kotoko players are expected in the Stars camp by the close of today.It will be the first meeting between the two rival nations since the Super Eagles kicked the Stars out in the quarter finals of the Mali 2002 Nations Cup early this year.

The match coming on the heels of the victory by Black Queens over their Nigerian counterparts, the Falcoms, at the on-going African Women’s Nations Cup in Nigeria, promises all the excitement that usually characterises games between the two teams.

If for nothing at all, the Super Eagles will be out to avenge the defeat of the Falcons at the hands of the Queens while the Stars are also planning their own vengeance having lost twice consecutively to the Super Eagles before and at this year’s Nations Cup.

Former Kotoko star, Baba Armando and Denmark-based Razak Pinpong are two members of the Stars foreign legion flying down to beef up the squad which has been camping over the past two weeks.

The Nigerians are reported to be coming down with some of their established Stars who paraded for the team at the World Cup last June

The Nigerian national soccer side, the Super Eagles, were expected to touch the nation’s shores yesterday by road for their international friendly encounter against the Black Stars of Ghana on Sunday.
