Sports Minister Tours Tema Sports Stadium

The Minister for Education, Youth and Sports, Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu made a day’s tour of the Tema Sports Stadium to see, at first hand, the state of the Stadium.

He was met on arrival by the Tema Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Ashong Narh who took the Minister, his Deputy, Mr. Joe Aggrey and the NSC boss, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah round the stadium.

The Chief Executive said that companies in the area had expressed their willingness to reconstruct the stadium walls and in two week’s time the project would be put on tender.

He said the Electricity company whose team, Power FC use the stadium had donated 50,000 pieces of sand create blocks for the construction of the walls.

Mr. Narh said churches and other developers have encroached on the stadium land but assured that the new stadium, when completed, would take the shape of an Olympic size with a sitting capacity of 25,000.

Mr. Ashong Narh said the assembly would make sure that the walls of the stadium were erected in time for the two teams, Stay Cool and Power FC to use the place as their home grounds.

Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu said the interest of his Ministry was to see to the smooth running of the league and not to have any disaster in the centres.

He urged companies and individuals who have the interest to rebuild the Tema Sports Stadium to contact the Tema Municipal Assembly for bidding.
