Sportnet boss cautions public

Accra, May 7, GNA - Mr Dan Aseidu Asare, Chief Executive of Sportnet Ghana Limited, dealers in the replica jerseys of the Black Stars has cautioned the public against the purchase of fake replica jerseys currently dominating the market.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, Mr Aseidu Asare said, days after the launch of the original jerseys by the company, it has come to his notice that a similar product has stormed the market.

He said the jerseys, which were displayed on the internet recently has no semblance with the original ones which is being sold by his outfit.

Mr Aseidu Asare said, the original replica jerseys has the logo of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)on the right side of the chest with the logo of Puma, Kits Sponsors of the Stars placed in front and back of the jerseys.

The all white dominated jerseys has Black strips with no numbers printed on it.

The Sportnet boss said the fake jerseys on the contrary, Have red, yellow and green strips from the armpit to the waist level and a coat of arms of the nation, with the logo of the GFA turned upside at the left side.

According to Mr Aseidu Asare, the features of the fake jerseys is a clear indication of the fact that it is a fake product which must be shunned by the public.

"In times like this individuals who are interested only in heir welfare invade the markets with all manner of products just to make profits for themsleves".

Mr Aseidu Asare said, there is the need for all to guard against these fake jerseys and buy the original ones to show their support as well as contribute to the team at the 2006 World Cup campaign. He said, the company is in talks with Puma, to find out ways of clamping down on pirates.

Sportnet Ghana Limited, recently launched replica jerseys of the Black Stars after gaining the nod from Puma to put the products on the market.

The company remains the only accredited agent for the sale of the products in the country.

Already, 500 pieces of the jerseys are on sale across the country with additional 500 expected in the next few weeks.
