Siwdu United wins MTN Fetu Afahye Gala

Accra, Sept 11, GNA - Siwdu United emerged winners of this year's Fetu Afahye Gala soccer competition held at Cape Coast. The Gala organized by cellular giants, MTN was part of sporting activities to climax the Fetu Afahye Festival of the Chiefs and people of the Oguaa Traditional Area of the Central Region.

Siwdu United spanked Trom United FC 4-1 in the final match to lift the giant trophy and 150 Ghana Cedis cash prize.

Trom FC was presented with 100 Ghana Cedis cash and MTN souvenirs. The other teams that participated in the six-club Gala competition are Abra FC, Enti, Ola Soccer Club, London Bridge and Ashanti Road. In the preliminaries, Suidu edged out Ola 3-2 on penalties while Enti managed a lone goal victory over London Bridge while Abra FC also run away with a lone goal victory over Ashanti Road. Suidu United beat Enti 5-4 on penalties on their way to the finals while Trom United also edged out Abra FC 5-4 also on penalties for the finals.

Mr Richard Acheampong, Brands Manager of MTN who presented the trophy and prizes to the winners advised the youth to be disciplined and take their training serious to be better placed to contribute to the development of their communities. MTN pumped over 16,000 Ghana cedis towards celebrations of the Festival. 11 Sept. 08
