Sam Johnson quits playing for Black Stars

Sam Johnson, one of the old guards of the of the senior national team, the Black Stars, who was excluded from the 22-man squad for the last African Cup of Nations in Mali said he was no longer interested in playing for the nation.

He said he was playing very well for his Turkish club and does not need to play for the nation to enhance his "market" value adding, "I can move to any club at any time." The burly utility player said in Accra that he would not like to incur the displeasure of officials and be tagged as indiscipline.

He noted that outspoken players of the Stars' have been referred to as indiscipline citing Samuel Osei Kuffour's case where after complaining about the poor apparel for the Stars', Kuffour was axed from the inexperienced young team after a single match in Mali.

Johnson also known as ?Foyoo,? called on the authorities to put their houses in order and endeavour to do the right things to avoid a possible confrontation with players. "If a father and mother always engage in fights, it will definitely reflect in the lives of their children", the player said, apparently referring to the alleged disunity at the Ghana Football Association.

Foyoo noted that nothing has changed either at the GFA or at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, adding that officials keep repeating the same old mistakes. "We always complain there is no money, I wonder when we will have money to solve some basic things for the Stars" he added.
