SUGHA boss steps down

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA - Sarfo Abebrese, President of the Supporters Union of Ghana (SUGHA) has relinquished his position as the leader of the group due to the increasing number of alleged cases of visa fraud levelled against him.

A statement issued by Harry Awuah-Baffour, National Organizer of the Union copied to the GNA Sports said that Mr Abebrese informed the Executives of the Union at its meting on August 10, 2007 to be excused from its activities to enable him fight the alleged visa fraud cases levelled against him in some sections of the media.

The statement said the executives have accepted his decision to resign and assured him of their fullest support in his quest to clear himself of any wrong-doing.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ken Aryettey, the 2nd Vice-President of the Union has been appointed as the acting President of SUGHA. It would be recalled that some few months ago, reports were rife in the media that Mr Abebrese has been accused of alleged visa fraud cases against some members who were desirous to travel to support the national teams
