Referees have not been paid since last year

Referee Alex Kotey has hailed the performances of Ghanaian referees in the just-ended Glo Ghana Premier League. Speaking on Ark Sports in Sunyani, referee Kotey said the league saw 240 matches out of which refereeing errors and misatkes were reported in less than ten matches.

“It means the referees are doing well because as officiating is a human institution where up and downs is a factor in their work, errord and mistakes are bound to occur,” referee Kotey said.

He added that not only referees should be blamed for errors in games but everybody because the Division One League referees have not been paid since last year’s Middle League that qualifed today’s league champions, Aduana Stars.

He again revealed that even the Premier League which has sponsorship has paid the referees up to only Match Day 26 and the league meanwhile has ended.

Ark Sports investigations have also revealed that GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi has given the referees an assurance and has advised the media to stop blaming referees for any little mistake during league matches.
