Referee Lamptey to officiate the Zesco/Hilal Champions League clash

Accra, Sept. 18, GNA - Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey will be at the helm of affairs in Saturday's Orange CAF Champions League clash involving Zambia's Zesco United and Al-Hilal of Sudan. The ultimate Group A 'clash' of the premier club competition is slated for the NKoloma Stadium in the Zambian capital, Lusaka. Information gathered by GNA Sports from the CAF Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt, indicates that the 34-year old Lamptey will be assisted on the lines by compatriots Salifu Malik and David Laryea.

Takoradi-based Cecil Fleischer will act as the fourth official. Ref. Lamptey, an official of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is arguably the busiest Ghanaian 'Knight of the Whistle' this year. He has officiated in the qualifying matches of the 2010 World Cup/Orange Africa Cup of Nations and was the only Ghanaian representative at the CAF U-17 Championship held in Algeria last March. Lamptey, two weeks ago led his compatriots to officiate the Rwanda-Egypt 2010 World Cup/Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.
