Red Bull unveils sponsorship for Black Stars

Accra, May 16, GNA - Powapak Ghana Limited, sole distributors of Red Bull Energy Drink has unveiled a 20, 000 Euro sponsorship package for the Blacks Stars as part of their contribution towards the participation of the team at its maiden appearance at World Cup in Germany next month. The amount covers 30 per cent of the total cost involved in the camping of the team in Austria.

Red Bull Energy Drink is one of the world=92s foremost consumed energy drink with an annual sale of 2.5 billion cans.

Mr Ray Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Powapak Ghana Limited in a statement copied to the GNA Sports said the remaining 70 per cent of the cost will be borne by the Local Government of the Carinthia Province in Austria to bring the total cost of 130,000 Euros required for the Stars camping programme.

The Stars are scheduled to leave for Austria on Wednesday to commence camping ahead of the competition before proceeding to Germany on June 5, four days ahead of the competition.

Mr Smith said the team will also have the opportunity of going on a tour at the Red Bull Quarters, Salzburg, in Austria, whilst the energy drinks will be made available to the team during their camping period. The CEO said his outfit will consider a friendly match between the Stars and Salzburg football club owned by Red Bull.

He expressed the hope that the team will live up to expectation in their historic appearance at the biggest soccer event in the world and commended the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as well as the Austrian Consulate for their efforts in getting the team to camp in Austria.
