Rates for Hearts/Okwawu match scheduled for Koforidua

Accra, Sept 18, GNA - The Management of Accra Hearts of Oak has announced that their 22nd week home match against Okwawu United on Sunday would come off at the Kofooridua Sports and not the Cape Coast Stadium.

A statement signed by Mr Asford Tettey Oku, Administrative Manager of the club, said match would attract a flat gate fee of 20 thousand cedis which is inclusive of the nominal fees of raffle coupons. Hearts were banned from playing three home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after a section of it's fans rioted during their 18th week league match against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra sports Stadium.

The fans ripped off the plastic settings and hurled them unto the park after Kotoko had equalised Hearts first half goal. The incident resulted in the arrest of four fans of Hearts who were jailed 18 months each.

The club also suffered 50 million cedis of the gate proceeds being deducted from their earnings by the National Sport Council to repair damages caused.

Mr Tettey Oku said the decision of the GFA is going to have a terrible effect on the finances of the club as well as its aspiration for a seventh consecutive league championship. He urged the clubs supporters to turn up massively to support their darling club to victory in Koforidua.
