Rally behind Black Stars - Ayariga

Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Youth and Sports, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Black Stars' campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea next year.

He said the time to pull together for the team after the Black Stars fell out with Ghanaians following off-the-field issues at the summer World Cup in Brazil was here.

He told GNA Sports that "Next month, we will be in Equatorial Guinea for a tourney to once again test our stand in Africa as a great footballing nation. I will like to appeal to all and sundry to rally behind the Stars as we go battle for the best.

"I know the history we made in Brazil with our disappointing performance, but I believe we deserve a second chance to correct those mistakes and conquer Africa once again".

Ghana will be chasing a fifth continental glory that spans over three decades, housed in Group C with Senegal, South Africa and Algeria.

The Black Stars were semi-finalist at the last two editions of the Nations Cup co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in 2012 and South Africa last year.
