Queens Honored .. another graduates

DANSO, MOHAMMED HONOURED, BAIDU GRADUATES!

Ghana Black Queens and Robert Morris College(Eagles) utility Mavis Danso received another accolade for the 2006 season as she was selected to the NAIA All-America First Team. Danso, the 2006 CCAC Conference Player of the Year and a 2005 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention selection, led the Eagles in scoring with 43 points on 16 goals and 11 assists.

In addition to her awards this season, Danso helped the Ghana National Team to win silver at the just ended African Womens Championships in Nigeria and helped the Black Queens qualify for its third consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cup that will be held in 2007 in China.

Mavis Danso who played for Ghatel Ladies in Accra before moving to the USA to study is a utility who plays every position apart from the inside-right.

The defensive midfielder is expected to join her national team early enough in March 2007 to prepare for the Womens World Cup.

Also receiving additional awards for 2006 was goalkeeper Fati Mohammed also of Ghana and Robert Morris College.Fati Mohammed who could not represent Ghana at the African Womens Championships was selected to the NAIA All-America Honorable Mention Team for the first time in their Eagle careers.

This marks the first time Mohammed was chosen to the first team after making the second team in 2004.

The Eagles finished the 2006 campaign with a 13-5-1 record and were the CCAC Conference regular season champions, and ended the year rated no. 22 in the NAIA National Poll.

Meanwhile Queens Utility Elizebeth Baidu started training with Northen Virginia Majestics on Monday after she graduated in Fitness at the Robert Morris College in November 2006.
