Prepare for Malawi now! - Polo warns Appiah

Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo is urging national team coach Kwasi Appiah to start immediate preparations for the two legged final CAN 2012 qualification tie against Malawi without delay.

Polo, a teammate of the Black Stars coach in Ghana’s last Nations’ Cup winning side of 1982, reckons that Ghana cannot afford to miss out on the continental showpiece where many Ghanaians are hoping the Black Stars can finally end the over 30 years wait for silverware.

Hence the need to begin urgent preparations for the two ties set for September in Accra and October in Blantyre.

“There is no draw that is easy these days; we don’t have to take any chances. We have to prepare very well so that we will be ready. There are no minnows now so you can’t take chances because if you do, you will be surprised,” Polo told 90 MINUTES.

He continued: “Malawi may be underdogs but that is their biggest weapon because nobody will give them a chance so they have nothing to worry about. We have to focus on that match and work towards winning it because we have to qualify,” Credit:
