Olympics demand fairness against BA

Accra, Aug. 12 - GNA - Accra Great Olympics have appealed to the organisers of the Kinaphama Premier League to put adequate structures in place to ensure that their match against Brong Ahafo United at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Wednesday is devoid of any nasty incidents.

Speaking to the GNA Sports ahead of the match, Dr Albert Arthur, a member of the management committee of the 'Ghanaian Blues' said recent reports from Sunyani, "particularly about King Faisal's ordeal," as narrated by Alhaji Karim Grunsah are enough cause for their concern. He said in order that the league is played in all fairness, the Professional League Board, the National Sports Council and the Brong Ahafo Regional Security Council must strategise to eliminate hooliganism from the Coronation Park so that the hosts and the visiting teams have an even ground to compete in the interest of the development of the game.

The medical officer warned against intimidation of players and officials of guest teams by the home supporters, threat to the lives of match officials and the unsporting conduct of ball boys, adding that such actions negate the forward drive of the game.

He called on the Ghana Football Association to apply severe sanctions to teams, which violate the ethics of sportsmanship and resort to unconventional means in the name of home advantage to win matches.

Dr Arthur assured supporters of Great Olympics that the management committee and the technical committee are leaving no stones unturned in their bid to win at Sunyani and put the team back into contention for a respectable placement in the league. 12 Aug 03
