Olympics Game accepts Ghana's local 'Ampe'- Board Chairman

Ghana's local game "ampe" has received attention from the international communities and now been accepted by Olympics Committee, according to the Board Chairman of Ghana's National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang.

"The good news is that "ampe" has been accepted by the Olympics Game Committee so we are going to have local competition and select winners to represent Ghana", the Board Chairman revealed adding "the World has taken a different stage in terms of Sports"

Ampe is a simple but energy-driven game played by school-age children. It originated from Ghana and also played in other neighbouring countries. It is played by two or more people and requires no equipment.

Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang who spoke to local winners of teqball tournament held at Agogo in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region urging the youth to take part in all sporting activities in the country.

"Yours maybe cycling, boxing, taekwando, swimming, etc you should take opportunity anytime it comes to your doorstep", Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang charged the youth of Asante Akim Agogo and its environs as he announced one Karim Mumuni and Kwadwo Sarpong to be winners to represent Ghana for the 2019 World Cup tournament.
