Odotei fingers Preko for pre-season delay

Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Vincent Odotei Sowah, has revealed the reason why the club has not yet started its pre-season training ahead of the G6 tournament scheduled to start on November 6, 2016.

Odotei claims recommendations by current head coach of the team, Yaw Preko, had delayed the start of the team’s pre-season.

Odotei debunked reports in the media which suggested that the club was in crisis, as remuneration of the club’s employees has been in arrears.

He said: “Our decision to delay the pre-season was based on the dialogue we had with Yaw Preko, in which he told us to pay the bonuses we owe the players from last season before we start on a fresh page because it will best serve the club to clear those arrears for a smooth season.

“We’re confident we can work something out as early as possible to start pre-season soon, but to talk crisis, I think it’s far from that,” he told Kessben Fm.

Meanwhile, the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League season will commence on December 18, 2016, the PLB has confirmed, whilst the registration for the first transfer window of the season will open from November 14, 2016 to February 13, 2017.
