Nigeria's Olympics team to camp in Ghana

NIGERIA’s Olympics team is now to finalise their preparations for the final qualifiers for London 2012 in Ghana beginning Sunday.

Dream Team V coach Austin Eguavoen told reporters in Abuja after his meeting with the Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) technical committee that his team has now settled for Ghana to round up its build-up for the Olympic qualifiers.

A squad of 25 players is expected to make the trip to Ghana with their overseas-based counterparts joining them thereafter.

Eguavoen had earlier proposed Turkey or Portugal but with the uncertainties surrounding securing entry visas into Europe for his squad at such short notice, it was now finally agreed that they should move to neighbouring Ghana to focus on the task ahead.

The weather conditions in Turkey are similar to that of Morocco, where the qualifiers will be staged from November 26, officials told MTNFootball.com

Nigeria, historic Olympic Gold medallists in 1996, are drawn with hosts Morocco, Senegal and Algeria in the first round of the qualifying tournament.
