New innovations by Eleven Wise for new season

Sekondi Eleven Wise have launched a series of innovations ahead of the new Glo Premier League season. Wise have among many things, instituted their own pre-match press conferences which will come on before their league games, especially home fixtures.

Charles Osei Assibey, Communications Director of Wise revealed this to journalists at the first press conference on Friday at the Sekondi Sports Stadium in Essipong that idea is to give the press “enough information so that there will be no speculations about any Eleven Wise affairs.” The media have also been assured of refreshment by the club at every home game.

The media have also been advised by the club not to rush unto the pitch at the sound of the final whistle to conduct their interviews as was often the case in the past. To inculcate professionalism, the media will only meet the coach and players in the Mixed Zone after games.

The reserve side of Wise, made up largely of the junior team and some senior players who can’t make the regular team, will also engage in curtain raisers before every league game. The curtain raiser is aimed at preventing the rustiness of reserve side players, making sure they will be ready to step up into the senior side at any time. To be played against Senior High Schools and Tertiary institutions in the Western Region, Eleven Wise aim to also use the platform created to have solid relationship and build rapport with the community as well as also sell the XI Wise brand and identify potential players at early ages to be nurtured for the team.

Also set to be maintained is the free gate for ladies and children under 12 years as was the case last season. Kids from Primary schools will also serve as escorts of players and officials during matches.

In addition, players of the club are also motivated by the introduction of player of the match and player of the month awards. The winners of the monthly award become the face of the club in the following month, conducting interviews and speaking on behalf of the club, among many other duties.

Wise which finished 5th in their return season back into Ghana’s top flight league, have vowed to break into the Top 4 come the end of 2009/10 Glo Premier League season. They begin the campaign at home to Wa All Stars on Sunday.
