Isaac Boakye can expect quite a welcome when he gets back to Ghana. Whatever happens to the Black Stars at the Nations Cup, the Obuasi Goldfields player will be remembered for bringing his side back from the dead.

Boakye came on as a second half substitute to win the game with two goals in the last few seconds of the game.

A delighted Boakye, who wears shirt no.13, scored in the 89th and 90th minutes of the match to put Ghana into the quarter-finals.

After the game he declared: "I am happy too much and God has shown his mark today."

He says a divine intervention had helped his side.

"In the morning and in the afternoon I prayed to God and said I would praise him if he would see us safely through."

But for most of the game the Black Stars played terribly and could never have expected to get anything out of it.

One of the Black Stars greatest ever players Abedi Pele, who is now a member of Ghana's FA, conceded that his side had not performed well.

"We played very, very bad but we will regroup, discuss things and then get it right for the next game."

Out on the field, even after Burkina Faso had scored an 82nd minute goal, Boakye says the Black Stars were convinced they could still win the day.

"We all expected that we would come back. We knew we had to win or we would be going home"

He revealed that word was coming through to the players that South Africa were beating Morocco, which meant the team that won their game would qualify.

Now the Black Stars will face old West African rivals Nigeria in the quarter final.

Abedi Pele led Ghana to victory when the two sides last met in this competition in the semi-final in 1992.

"We know Nigerians, they are our rivals and this will be a game to look forward to."

Isaac Boakye is staying focussed.

"We will do our best and play as if it were the final."
