NSC mobilizes support for Black Maiden

Accra, June 12, GNA - The National Sports Council (NSC) has embarked an exercise to mobilize support for the National Under-17 team, the Black Maidens as they take on their Cameroonian counterparts in the Federation of International Association (FIFA) World Cup qualifier at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Saturday, June 14. A statement signed by Charles J. Aryeh, Chief Administrative Officer of the NSC on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah said school children will be given a half rate of 50Gh pesewas, whilst couples will be allowed entrance with a sole ticket. The statement said the measure is in line with the Council's policy of subsidizing the rates to ensure that "our women teams also get the same support as the men's".

The Council is therefore entreating all sports enthusiasts to come in their numbers to support the women to a convincing victory. The Maidens lost their last game against Nigeria and will need total victory to secure the three maximum points at stake to enhance their position in the three-nation round robin. The first two are expected to participate in the FIFA Under-17 Female World Cup in Chile.
