NOKIA unveils 'World Cup Challenge'

Accra, May 29, GNA - The world's top mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia, in conjunction with Classic Cellular, accredited agents of the Nokia brand in Ghana, will organise large screen viewing of the World Cup at designated places for Ghanaians as part of efforts to mobilise support for the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The large screen viewing is also aimed at bringing the performances of the Black Stars closer to homes and to ensure that Ghanaians follow the action till the end, says Mr Edwin Addo, General Manager Sales and Marketing Classic Cellular Nokia.

"We want to ensure that Ghanaians who already love their Nokia mobile phones also love the Black Stars equally and dearly," Mr Addo stated in a statement to the media.

He said the project, dubbed "Nokia World Cup Challenge," would also support a special World Cup programme on television with great prizes for participants.

The Nokia World Cup Challenge is part of public and media events being put together by the Classic Cellular Nokia to promote the campaign of the national team at the World Cup.

The company sponsored five journalists to cover the Black Stars friendly game against the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica in Leicester, England on May 29.

The five journalists were drawn from the Ghana News Agency, Graphic Sports, Africa Sports, Radio Gold and Fox FM.
