Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari is at the centre of a bizarre triangle of transfer money claims, according to a report in The Daily Star.

His former club Portsmouth are enlisting the help of FIFA to get back the £900,000 they claim they are owed by the Serie A giants and Udinese are also involved in the confusion.

The Ghana international was signed from Udinese in 2007 when money flowed freely at Fratton Park.

Muntari was sold to Inter a year later, but the transfer wrangling continues two years later, with no sign of a resolution.

“We are owed €1m by Inter Milan because Muntari has made a certain number of appearances for them,” said Pompey chief executive David Lampitt.

“We are chasing the money and so were the administrators and now we are calling in FIFA.”

Udinese, at the same time, have been claiming around £450,000 from Portsmouth as an additional payment for Muntari playing in the 2008 FA Cup Final and getting the club into Europe.

Inter say they bypassed Pompey and paid off Udinese when the club's cash crisis threatened to put them out of business.

Lampitt added: “At some stage, there has been an agreement between Udinese and Inter Milan, whereby Inter Milan appear to have assigned that €1m to Udinese.
