Metro Sporting Club inaugurated

Takoradi, Aug 26 GNA - A Nine-member Council of Elders for Metro Sporting Club, a Division One soccer team was inaugurated with the out-dooring of a sponsorship package for the Club at Takoradi on Saturday.

Mr. Philip Kwesi Nkrumah, Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Chief Executive in his inaugural address emphasised the need to unearthing the talents of the youth by providing them with opportunities. He said the formation of the football club was part of the youth development policy of the Assembly and appealed to institutions and individuals to support the Club, adding that the success of any team depends on a sound financial and support base. Mr. Nkrumah said that sports management was crucial in ensuring that players, coaches and other stakeholders co-exist peacefully. He said the Council was therefore formed to assist in ensuring the growth of the Club in the Metropolis and therefore advised the players to work hard to bring the name of Sekondi-Takoradi area to the limelight.

Ghana Telecom (Onetouch) presented a sponsored kit packaged made up 20 pairs of football boots, 12 footballs, 18 shin guards, three sets of gloves and three sets of jerseys. Nana Bosomakura III, Takoradimanhene is the Chairman of the Council.
