Meridian Cup: African All Stars Trounced in Bari

The African All Stars Team was trounced by their European All Stars counterparts by four goals to nil in Bari, Italy at the San Nicola Stadium as Europe finished the 2001 UEFA-CAF Meridian Cup Tournament.

Former Black Stars captain, Abedi Ayew Pele played in the first half whilst his senior colleague and former Black Stars deputy coach, Abdul Karim Razak also came in during the second half.

The Europeans took the lead in the 28th minute through a freekick taken by Bruno Conti, which went past Thomas N'kono. They made it two when African failed to stop a Hansi Muller run and his cross was converted by Michael Laudrup.

Ahmend Shobeir palmed Laudrup's cross into the path of Giordano who volleyed home to the far corner for the third goal in the 68th minute.

Giordano scored his second and Europe's fourth goal for the evening again Laudrups cross was this time parried into his way by substitute goalkeeper Ahmend Shobier for a simple goal.
