Ghana forward Abdul Majeed Waris played for the first time this season for Strasbourg as they beat AS Monaco on Saturday in the French Ligue 1.

The striker joined Strasbourg on loan from FC Porto after failing to make an appearance for the Portuguese giants in the first half of the campaign.

Waris was introduced into the game in the 85th minute when he replaced Ludovic Ajorque in the 3-1 win at the Stade Louis II.

Ludovic Ajorque opened the scoring in the 40th minute before Adrien Thomasson and Stefan Mitrovic added two goals in the space of eight second-half minutes.

AS Monaco pulled one back through Stefan Jovetic with just four minutes remaining.

The 28-year old Ghanaian forward is familiar with French football after spells with Valenciennes, Lorient and Nantes.
