Leave Kwasi Appiah alone… Preko warns

Former national team star Yaw ‘Rush’ Preko has descended heavily on all those suggesting names Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah should call or drop, entreating Ghanaians to allow the coach to do his work.

Former FA boss Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has been at war with certain ‘old’ Black Stars players after calling for Coach Appiah to shut the national team door on the likes of current captain John Mensah, Essien, Paintsil among others. Asamoah Gyan has even replied Nyaho in the regard but Preko believes it is best to leave team selection to the man in charge.

“They should leave Kwasi Appiah to do his job, he knows his players, he is in charge. I know everybody has an opinion but at the end it’s Kwasi Appiah who will be held responsible,” Preko told 90 MINUTES in a chat. He continued: “Whether we win or lose, it’s him who will answer. He wants victory so he will make sure he selects the best players available.”

The former Hearts of Oak and Anderlecht winger is also declaring an unflinching support behind his Senegal ’92 Black Stars teammate as the national team go head-to-head with Malawi’s Flames in the ultimate round of qualifiers to next January’s Cup of Africa Nations South Africa 2013.

“I don’t think he should take it lightly. I know he will go in with the determination as he will for every game, like they did against Lesotho. Zambia was another difficult game and they lost so he will be aiming to get back to winning ways. I 100% wish him well; we want him to succeed very very much,” Preko declared.Credit:
