League Postponed

...GFA postpones 24th week matches scheduled for Sunday
The Professional League Board (PLB) in consultation with the Management Board of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) have decided to declare this weekends 24th week league matches outstanding.

A statement copied to GNA Sports and signed by Mr. Kwaku Ampim-Darko, Deputy General Secretary of the GFA, said the decision was as a result of the need for total support for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Ghana's only club remaining in the African Clubs competition, to win convincingly their quarterfinals match against El-Masry of Egypt on Sunday.

It said the break would also facilitate the release of players from Premier league clubs to the senior national team, Black Stars, for training in readiness for their impending Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Cranes of Uganda on September 8, in Kampala.

The postponement would similarly give the national U-20 team, the Black Satellites, more time to train for their African Youth Championship qualifying match in a few weeks time, the statement added.

The PLB has therefore appealed to all clubs to cooperate in ensuring that the league ends successfully.
