Laryea Kingston to play in Germany?

According to the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Football?s world governing body, FIFA has cleared Black Stars midfielder Laryea Kingston to feature at the upcoming World cup tournament in Germany.

This follows a meeting between Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele and FIFA officials in Zurich on Monday.

Kingston was given an unprecedented four-match ban by the Confederation of African Football for violent conduct after a group game at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

But according to Abedi Pele, FIFA says that the suspension imposed by CAF doesn?t extend to the World Cup.

?To my knowledge he?s going to play,? Abedi told a local radio station.

?I said it at our meeting, the feedback I had from the various angles is Laryea can play.

?He was suspended from the African Cup of Nations which has nothing to do with the world cup. It?s not a FIFA organizing tournament so it has nothing to do with the FIFA tournament at all.

?So in our meeting, I mentioned it and a lot of countries had peculiar problems, after, Germany also pleaded for the player.

?We met in the general Secretary?s office, Urs Linsi. He phoned the disciplinary committee to find out whether Laryea was among the list of suspended players from the world cup and he said no.

?I would phone again to get a letter to clear the matter here (Ghana).? Abedi added.

Laryea Kingston now awaits a written confirmation of his eligibility to play at the finals in Germany.
