Kwesi Appiah in Sudan to ink switch

Former Ghana manager, Kwesi Appiah reportedly arrived in Sudan on Monday to complete a two-year move with Al Khartoum this week.

Appiah left Accra this afternoon with Coach Prince Owusu, who is also set to ink a two-year deal as the fitness and assistant trainer of the Sudanese side. Information pieced together by GNA Sports indicates that, Appiah will conclude final talks with Al Khartoum in the next 48-hours and formalize the switch on

Thursday, December 18, in the Sudanese capital.

Appiah, the only Ghanaian to have qualified the Black Stars to the World Cup is expected to begin his new challenge in January 2015, with the side keen on counting on his expertise in their quest to impress at the continental club competitions.

Al Khartoum finished fourth in the 2014 Sudanese Premier League and will feature in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup.

A source told GNA Sports that “Kwesi has been offered a two-year contract with an option to consider other interest whenever he deem necessary. The club has shown good faith in needing him and he hopes to repay that confidence.

“He will be concluding the final details in the next few days and sign what will see him earn double of his first year wages if he is still interested in continuing after a year in charge.”

Meanwhile, Owusu, who has abrogated his contract with last season’s Confederation Cup campaigners, Medeama SC is expected to assists Appiah.

This is the first time, Appiah, 54, will be coaching a side outside Ghana.
