Kwarasey proves quality despite Ghana snub

Rejected goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey put in an excellent man-of-match performance in one of the biggest games in the Norwegian top flight on the day Ghana decided not to take him to the World Cup.

The Ghana Football Association decided on Saturday not to pursue the youngster for the June’s tournament but he proved his quality on the pitch as the one who can challenge a starting place in the Black Stars.

The Stromsgodset shot stopper prevented his side from defeat with some fantastic saves as they defeated arch rivals Valarenga in one of the toughest matches in Norway.

Kwarasey was forced into two one-on-one saves in the game while another diving save keep his side in the match and subsequently sealed the win the heavily attended game.

In his first action video to be seen of the goalkeeper exclusively provided by Ghanasoccernet, the goalkeeper provided ample evidence why he could help the Black Stars not only at this World Cup but also in many future competitions. He was named the best goalkeeper of the week by the Norwegian newspapers on Sunday after scooping the man-of-the-match award for one of the big games of the season.

The Ghana FA said they were not pursuing him but at least his performance showed that even capping and securing him for Ghana in future would be a wise decision. Kwarasey had snubbed Norway’s U21 to pursue the dream of playing for his father’s country but those hopes were dashed by the Ghana FA pronoucement. Kwarasey, who featured for Norway at youth level, has seen his application for national switch delayed for more than ten months as the Ghanaian authorities have not pursued it.

Ghana had the opportunity of capping Germany international Gerald Asamoah but the then GFA board were dragging their feet which led him to play for the European country.

A similar thing could happen if at least the Ghana FA doesn’t pursue his nationality switch and cap him even if he will not be needed at the World Cup.
