Kufuor wishes Black Stars success

Accra, June 21, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday sent a goodwill message from himself and the entire nation to the Black Stars as they play their US counterparts in their last group match in Nuremberg on Thursday.

President Kufuor said the Black Stars had already done the nation proud by their qualification for the World Cup tournament and also by their splendid performances so far which had been widely acknowledged by the entire world.

President Kufuor said whichever way the game went, the Black Stars had already made an invaluable contribution to Ghana's effort at standing out as a recognized and respected sovereign nation in the comity of nations.

"Nevertheless, I have no doubt that you are capable and will cross this last group hurdle into the next stage of the competition to make Ghana and Africa proud," he said.

"I pray to God that He will give you the energy and strategy to accomplish that which he predestined you and our dear nation to achieve before the beginning of time," President Kufuor added.

The Black Stars humbled the Czech Republic 2-0 last Saturday to brighten their chances of reaching the knockout stage of the competition.

The Black Stars have three points, just one less than Italy, but lie third behind Italy and the Czech Republic which also have three points. A win for the Stars will put them safely through.
