Kotoko seek boardroom points from Chelsea

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Premier League champions Asante Kotoko have initiated proceedings to have the Ghana Football Association deduct points from Berekum Chelsea over non-payment of transfer fee percentages to Gomoa Fetteh Feyernoord (now West Africa Football Academy of WAFA).

Footy-ghana.com published a story in 2013 in which Berekum Chelsea was found to have under declared the transfer fee the club received for selling winger Solomon Asante to TP Mazembe.

Berekum Chelsea declared $300,000 but the Player Status Committee of the GFA in August 2013 established that the transfer fee was in fact $500,000 and ordered Chelsea to pay 35% of the transfer fee to Feyernoord by the end of 2013, as was stipulated in the transfer agreement, since Asante was formerly a product of Feyernoord.

Footy-ghana.com understands that Berekum Chelsea has so far failed to pay the money to Feyernoord, causing Asante Kotoko to seek for points to be deducted as per the GFA regulations for failing to pay within the stipulated time.

Asante Kotoko drew 1-1 with Berekum Chelsea in Berekum on match day nine of this season’s First Capital Plus Premier League.
