Kotoko out to impress in Algeria

A 31-man Kotoko contingent comprising 19 players and 12 other officials left Accra last night for Algeria for Saturday’s CAF Champions League, 1/16th stage match. They were expected to make a stopover in Istanbul, Turkey before continuing to the Algerian capital, Algiers.

Their message as they left was simple: they were going to Algeria to be impressive despite acknowledging that, they have a difficult task awaiting them there.

“It won’t be easy but we will return with good a result” said captain Amos Frimpong. “Africa is looking more like a herculean task” but it’s surmountable added newly appointed coach David Duncan. “The team’s performance has improved though we haven’t won in three games. I’m however hopeful of decent developments in Algeria” said Deputy Coach, Michael Osei.

General Manager, Opoku Nti; Operations Manager, George Kennedy and Chairman of the Africa Campaign Committee, Alhaji Abu Lamini also expressed the hope that the team would tell an exciting story in Africa.

The 19 players on the trip are: Goalkeepers – Isaac Amoako, Joseph Addo and Ofori Antwi; Defenders: Atta Kusi, Emmanuel Asante, Eric Donkor, Amos Frimpong, Abeiku Ainooson, and Akwasi Acheampong; Midfielders: Jackson Owusu, Michael Akuffu, Jordan Opoku, Richard Mpong and Stephen Oduro. Attackers: Amed Toure, Obed Owusu, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi and youngster Dauda Mohammed.

The technical team has Head Coach David Duncan and his assistant, Michael Osei; Team Manager, Prince Adu Poku; Goalkeepers’ Trainer, Sampson Appiah; Dr. Kwaku Boateng-Arthur and Equipment Officer, Issah Amadu.

Board member, Nana Kwame Kusi II; General Manager, Opoku Nti; Operations Manager, George Kennedy; Accra Representative, Edmund Ackah; Communications Manager, Kwaku Ahenkorah and Brong Ahafo Regional Football Chairman, Augustine Asante are the other officials.
