Kotoko and Hearts get FA nod

THE GHANAIAN FA has approved plans for the country's top two clubs to go to South Africa for the VODACOM Challenge Cup on June 28.

The FA has directed officials of both clubs to contact its secretariat for further clarification on the four-team invitational tournament, which also includes South African sides, Kaiser Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

However, what remains unclear is whether both teams will be asked to raise two teams, one for the league and the other for the VODACOM Challenge Cup. This is in view of the FA's decision not to suspend the league in the absence of the two clubs.

The two clubs in question have signed contracts which say that they will participate in the competition in South Africa, and failure to do so would now cost a fine of $US 100,000.

The Ghanaian Professional League Board are trying to find a solution to the problem this poses after a meeting yesterday with club officials.
