Kotoko FC to visit Kenya

Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC is set to visit Kenya next month for one high profile friendly match against Gor Mahia.

The visitors will be on their way to Tanzania to play a combined side before facing off with Tanzania soccer giants Simba Sports Club and Yanga on the weekend of December 11 -12 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Formed in 1926, The 26 times league winners in Ghana and a two times CAF Champions league winners, are scheduled to play Gor Mahia on Thursday December 8th at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Gor Mahia Assistant secretary Ronald Ngala disclosed that his team will use the friendly tie as part of their preparations for next years next year's CAF Confederation cup scheduled to begin in January 2012

The match, he added, will be of great importance for us since we have a busy schedule next year.We want to engage our boys in many friendly matches as possible.Some of our players lack adequate exposure and experience.We shall accept any friendly match that is geared to sharpen our boys” said Ngala.

Gor Mahia are credited for being 12 times local league winners and one time CAF Confederation cup winners .

Early this year, Gor Mahia FC played Ghanian U-20 team at Nyayo National Stadium where Ezekiel Odera and Collins 'Gatusso' Okoth attracted the attention of one of the Ghana scout who promised to bring a top Ghana team in Kenya before the end of the year.

Gor has played two friendly matches against the two Tanzania clubs in the recent past on separate dates dismissing Simba 3-1 at their back yard in Dar before settling to a 1-1 score line against Yanga at the Arusha’s Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium.
