Kingson gets Premiership action finally

Richard Kingson made his first Premiership start for Blackpool in the English top flight in a rare appearance at club level.

The first choice Ghana goalkeeper who has played more games at international level for the Black Stars than at club level but finally got the call to duty at Blackpool as manager Ian Holloway made ten changes for their trip to Aston Villa.

Kingson’s side lost 2-3 but the Ghanaian goalkeeper proved he is good enough for a regular place in one of the most competitive leagues in world football.

But Kingson’s club career still makes for depressing reading. The game at Villa Park was only the eighth that he has played at club level since the 2006/2007 season.

He did not play a single game at club level for Wigan Athletic last season and after making four appearances for the same club the season before and one appearance for Birmingham City in the 2007/08 season.

He will not hope the relatively good display at Villa Park will enhance his chances of regular first team football.
