Kingson Shows Support.

Black Stars first choice goalkeeper, Richard ‘Oleley’ Kingson, over the weekend showed his love for the development football when he single-handedly sponsored the annual Teshie/Nungua Homowo football matches.

Kingson, who hails from Teshie and plays for English side Birmingham City, injected almost 60 Million Cedis as sponsorship for the game which the Nungua lads won 2-1.

Before last Saturday’s games, the former Great Olympics goalie has donated an amount of 4.5 Million Cedis to nine communities in Teshie township who according to Kingson had always shown support to almost all sporting individuals from the Teshie community.

These groups, namely, Ghana, Man U, Korle-Wokon, Greece, Six, and Tafo Ye Feo among others were represented by their respective colours as done by tradition. At the end of the game, Kpando Heart of Lions and Black Satellite midfielder, John Boi, who featured for the Teshie lads, was adjudged the Best Player, taking home a brand-new fourteen inches coloured television.

The trophy and award for Goal king, which was also a brand-new refrigerator, had to be returned to the Teshie Old Stars, the organizers of the event after none was adjudged with that award.

According Kingson, he is planning to sponsor the event yearly in order to unearth more soccer talents from the Teshie community.

Among those that feature in the game over the weekend were, Hearts of Oak’s Bernard Dong Bortey, Winfred Dormon of Great Olympics, Seidu Yakubu, Nii Adjei of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and others.
