King Faisal pip League leaders Chelsea

Kumasi, May 2, GNA - Kumasi-based King Faisal FC managed a 1-0 victory over Glo Premier League leaders, Berekum Chelsea, in their 26 Week Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Monday.

Wahab Yahaya hit the back of the net with a superb shot after 37 minutes after he easily dribbled his way through two defenders of the visiting team before unleashing a low grounder.

Faisal nearly made it two in the 44th minute, when Ernest Sowah spilled the ball following a powerful drive by Wahab but Asuandzie Kyei Baffoe messed up the chance.

Chelsea resumed the second half, a well transformed side and full of vigor as they kept probing for the equalizer. Faisal, given their precarious position on the League table, would however not allow victory to slip away from them as they added more steel to their defence by warding off series of incursions by the striking force of Chelsea.

The Alhaji Gruzah lads held on to their slim lead until referee John Attikese of Koforidua whistled to end hostilities.
