King Faisal gets Puma kit package

Kumasi-based premiership club, King Faisal FC appears to be making quite some modest strides since the partnership agreement between the Chairman and founder, Alhaji Karim Grunsah and the former Asante Kotoko CEO, Herbert Mensah was struck. First was the hiring of an expatriate manager, Ralf Zumdick, who last season handled Kotoko, then they outwitted the porcupine warriors to the signature of Hamza Mohammed from RTU and now King Faisal has secured a PUMA kit package.

King Faisal coach, Ralf Zumdick, who is been sponsored by the German kit company, brokered the PUMA deal. King Faisal President, Herbert Mensah who announced this on Saturday in an interview with Fox FM, said his association with King Faisal is a business decision and should not be seen as threat to Asante Kotoko.

Herbert Mensah who was speaking for the first time in Kumasi since the dissolution of his management team together with the Board of Directors of Kotoko by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in February, denied several accusations leveled against his management. Herbert, who says he has since not spoken to any of the IMC members noted that his silence over the many accusations is to enable the Kotoko family remain together in the event of change as counter accusations would only destabilize the club.

He further stated that his respect for Otumfuo Osei Tutu, the players and the fans would not see him countering the allegations especially on the finances of the club since that would divide the team but warned against the practice of spreading false information since there was a limit to which one can handle such issues.

The former Kotoko boss who continually repeated that fans of Asante Kotoko should not feel threatened by his association King Faisal said there was the need to develop another soccer force in the Ashanti region.

On Sunday, Herbert Mensah the new President of King Faisal watched his new club play against Real Tamale United winning by a lone goal. This time, Herbert was not in red attire as he used to do but wore a green top to signify his pact with King Faisal.
