"Jordan's quality will propel team"- Wellington

Accra, Oct. 18, GNA- Ghana's U-20 Coach, Orlando Wellington is elated about the prospect that Jordan Ayew brings to his team as the Satellites brace up for a final African Youth Championship (AYC) qualifier against Benin on Saturday at the Ohene Djan sports stadium, Accra.

Ghana had laboured in vain to have Olympique Marseille release the gifted winger for earlier duels and Coach Wellington says the change in heart of the French Club will propel his team to success.

He told GNA Sports that the prospect of fielding Ayew are enormous insisting, "he is playing at the highest level, he is talented and the exposure he has will without doubt help our cause."

The coach said getting Ayew into his team is a big bonus citing the fact that he had earlier resigned himself to playing the qualifiers without the winger.

"I had accepted that Jordan might never be released for the qualifiers but I was hoping he will join us once we qualified for the tournament.

"Initially we had the same challenges when we needed Andre, Jordan's senior brother for the last Satellites team that ruled Africa and the world but eventually he joined us for the tournament so I was hoping the same will at least happen."

Asked if the player would be giving an automatic starting line up role, coach Wellington gave very little away but insisted the player's quality was way ahead of most of his current charges.

Even though Ayew has two caps for the Black Stars, Sunday's meeting with Benin remains his first with any of the age teams. Ghana, the defending champions of the biannual event won the first leg in Benin 2-0 and a draw in any form should qualify them for the Libya tourney in 2011.

The Marseille player is expected to join the team on Wednesday for the game pushed to Saturday at the Ohene Djan Stadium due to a clash of the venue with Accra Hearts of Oak who host Wa All Stars in a Premiership game on Sunday.
