With barely two days for the big World Cup qualifying match in Accra, Ghana's Black Stars head coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio would be faced with the big task of defending Ghana's 18 years record over Nigeria, when the Super Eagles take on the Black Stars on Sunday.

With Ghana's pride at stake, the onus now lies on Jones and his local legions to keep Ghana's record intact

The last time Nigeria defeated Ghana in Association football was in 1983 when they defeated Ghana by two goals to one in qualifying match in Accra for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Soccer Tournament.

Jones' bold declaration for home-based players would be put to test when the Super Eagles line up on Sunday with their star studded side comprising of Sunday Oliseh, Jay Jay Okoacha , Kanu, Goerge Finidi, Justine Eguavon,Taribo West and Ike Shorumu.

Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, Ishmael Addo, Sammy Adjei, Jacob Nettey, Baffour Gyan and Nana Arhin Duah would also represent Ghana, though players of Asante Kotoko namely Isaac Owusu, Lawrence Adjei, Godwin Ablordey and Nana Frimpong had as at yesterday still not reported to camp.

In their absence, coach Jones Attuquayefio still believes that this would be a platform for the locally based players to explore and would bring out the best in them for the development of the game locally.

According to Jones, "every businessman needs to take risk one time or the other and that is what I have chosen to do on Sunday", adding "I know this is a make or break affair and I am prepared to accept blame for any failure and of course should success come, praise should be given where due, he emphasised.
