Jonathan Mensah gives to charity

Accra, July 22, GNA - Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah has donated cash and food items to the Royal Seed Orphanage in Kasoa, as his donation to reach out to the poor and needy in the area.

The items include; 10 bag of rice, five bags of sugar, five cartons of milk and five gallons of oil totalling GHC1, 200 and a cash donation of GHC1000. Mensah, who was a key member of the Black Stars during the last Africa Cup of Nations and the recent World Cup in South Africa said, the decision to give to the orphanage was to fulfil a personal pledge he made before the World Cup.

The central defender said, having had a good outing at the event, he decided to show appreciation to God and to live by his promise, by donating to the orphanage.

Mensah said he would make it a point to visit the orphanage anytime he arrives in Ghana for holidays.

Esi Amoah, Director of the Orphanage expressed her appreciation to the

player for coming to the aid of the needy.

She said the player and the Black Stars have made Ghana proud by their performance and wished them well in their future endeavours.

She said the orphanage would continue praying for him and the national

team to succeed in their future assignments.
