Jawula Presented True And Fair Account - AG

The Auditor General R.K Anaglate says the financial statement of the Jawula-led Ghana Football Association, is a "true and fair view of the financial position of the association as at 31st December 2001 and its results of operations for the year also ended on that date".

"In our opinion subject to the comments in our management letter DA.14/DATED 12 February 2001, proper books of account have been kept by the Ghana Football Association", the Auditor General's report on the GFA stated.

In a management report on the accounts of the GFA for the period July 1999 to August 2000,the Auditor General disclosed that his outfit planned and performed the auditing in order to obtain all the necessary information and explanations which were considered necessary to give a reasonable assurance that the Financial Statements are free from material mis-statement whether caused by fraud or other irregularity.

In arriving at their conclusions, the Auditor General said they also evaluated the overall adequacy of the presentation of information in the Financial Statements.

According to the report, it assessed the significant estimates and judgements made by the GFA management in the preparation of the Financial Statements and whether the accounting policies were appropriate to the Association's circumstances, and whether they were consistently applied and adequately disclosed. The Auditor General also stated that they conducted the auditing in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.

"An audit includes examination, on a test basis, of evidence relevant to the amounts and disclosures in the Financial Statements." The report said the auditing was based on an independent opinion on the Financial Statements presented by the FA and a report made on an independent opinion of the statements.
