Inter Universities Beach Soccer Tournament In September

**

Ghana’s coast has been an important place for fish
trading, goods trading and recreation. Compared to other beaches outside the
borders of Ghana, many of Ghana’s beaches seem to be rather less attractive
and under developed.
Folks living along the coast do not see the bigger
picture of transforming the beaches into a first class tourist attraction
and recreational source for everyone, thus, have left the sea to continually
feed the beach with waste materials that they dump into the sea. Inadequate
education on sanitation, toilet and dumping facilities in towns by the coast
sometimes justifies the indiscipline acts like throwing refuse and excreta
in the sea and the beach, by the town folk.
When our beaches are not clean, people suffer
illnesses like cholera, and the sea becomes a chaotic habitat for the
fishes, turtles and other sea creatures.
According to Victor Kwame Kafui, Communications
Manager Beacon Adventure Group, they want to organize a beach soccer
tournament is being organized to; create awareness and educate Ghanaians
about the need to keep water bodies and its coast clean, raise volunteers
who shall pave the way by cleaning every coast where the event is held, make
the beach soccer more attractive among the youth and to educate them on the
need for exercising and sanitation, promote tourism in Ghana by showing
tourists how attractive, fun and rejuvenating our coast can be.
“With the collaboration of the Ministry of Tourism,
Ministry of Sports and Education, Zoil Ghana Ltd, the media and the
universities, Ghana’s coast can be transformed into an economic cradle.
Moreover illnesses like cholera, river blindness, diphtheria shall be
avoided”, he said.

universities and institutions.

and seminars shall be held to train and educate participants of the rules
and regulations of the sport.
