Injured Ayew flies back to Marseille

Injured Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew is set for three weeks in the treatment room after hurting his thigh during Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Uganda.

The 24-year-old was substituted midway through the second half in Kampala after he could no longer endure the pains.

Ghana medical team ruled him out of Wednesday’s final qualifier against Togo after finding out he had minimal grade I tear.

Ayew has rejoined his club Olympique Marseille to undergo further test.

“He felt uncomfortable and suspicion was that it was a groin,” Spokesperson for Ayew Fiifi Tackie told GHANASoccernet.com

“He has flown back to France to run further test to ascertain the level of damage done.

“He really wanted to be involved in this final game but that wasn’t to be.” If confirmed as a groin Ayew could face two to three weeks on the sidelines.
