The only female candidate in the recently held Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections, Amanda Clinton, spent just below $5,000 on her campaign.

Speaking on the Sunrise morning show on 3FM with Winston Amoah, the private legal practitioner, who was initially reluctant to disclose how much she spent on the whole elections, said: “It wasn’t a lot to the extent that I can have a fantastic weekend afterwards and still be okay on Monday.”

“I really didn’t spend anything,” she said.

But she later said she spent under $5,000 including filing fees on the elections.

Amanda Clinton got no votes in last Friday’s elections.

In a race that went into a third round of voting Kurt Okraku emerged the winner, having led each round of voting.

He secured 93 votes as endorsement in the final round after closest contender George Afriyie conceded defeat.

In the first round, Kurt Okraku polled 44 votes, George Afriyie polled 40 votes, Nana Yaw Amponsah had 27 votes and Fred Pappoe had six votes.

The other two candidates, Amanda Clinton and George Ankomah Mensah, had no vote.

Prior to the elections, allegations emerged that candidates were dishing out money to influence delegates but in the case of Amanda Clinton she said delegates need to be smarter.

She further said under no condition did she pull out of the race as was being speculated and that ‘Mafia’ tactics were adopted by her opponents, who caused her bad press.

She, however, expressed desire to serve in a legal or communication role if given the opportunity.
