I'm still in charge - Ziese

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - Burkhard Ziese, Head Coach of the senior national team, Black Stars, who has been served with a letter giving him a month's notice to terminate his appointment by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said on Friday he is still in charge.

He told the GNA Sports in Accra that although his alleged dismissal has been widely publicized, "I have receive no letter to that effect; consequently, I'm obliged to carry out my duties as a coach".

The one-month notice is in accordance with terms of his one-year renewable contract with FA.

Quoting extensively from the contract, the coach explained that in the case of a dispute between him and his employers, each one of them has the right to terminate the contract, only after attempts to remedy situation has failed.

Sequel to this clause, Burkhard said, he had written to the GFA with the hope that the two - GFA and Burkhard - could sit down and resolve the problem.

The tough talking German who qualified the Black Stars for the Senegal Nations Cup in 1992 after eight years in the dark, denied that there was a feud between him and the FA saying that the association would breach its part of the contract should that happen.
The coach is, however, worried about the GFA's contradictory statements saying while he was served with a letter dated August 4, this year, which indicated that there was no dispute between him and the association, he was shocked to receive another letter a day after which said the contrary.
Burkhard threatened to seek redress at FIFA if the GFA should give him the boot on September 5, this year, by which date the one-month period expires.
He has also asked the GFA to apologise to him within 30 days for the way it has conducted its self.
The coach, who had a similar problem with the Zambian FA, said if he should be given a 15-minute audience with President, John Agyekum Kufuor, "I will be maintained while heads will rather roll at the FA".
