Herbert Addo Relishes Phobia Win

Accra Hearts of Oak’s coach, Herbert Addo is basking in the glory of a league title with the Phobians after his first season in charge. Herbert’s charges won the season’s title with one game to spare with a 4-0 win over relegation threatened Power FC on Wednesday. It was the Phobian’s sixth straight league title win, an unprecedented feat in Ghana.

For Addo, it was a difficult and sometimes tense road to the corridors of history. Hearts played wonderful football for most part of the season but during the period when they failed to shine, he felt the heat.

“I am relieved now. The last few days have been very tense lately. I had no time for media interviews before this game”, he said after his charge wrapped up the league title. I was hyper for most of the period before this game but it was worth it in the end. To win six straight league titles is no mean an achievement”.

The coach says his next target is to get Hearts to become more competitive than they have been in the African Champions League in the last two years. During that period, Hearts were knocked from the qualifying stages twice in succession.
