Hearts to face Ashgold for 2010 SIC/SWAG Cup

Accra, May 9, GNA - League leaders Obuasi Ashgold and Accra Hearts of Oak will this year vie for the 2010 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Cup in a two leg encounter.

A statement issued and signed by William D. Ezah, acting General Secretary of SWAG said the first leg event will be played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, May 30.

According to the statement, the date for the second leg will be fixed after the 2010 Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) in South Africa.

The statement said the two leg encounter, will be sponsored by State Insurance Company (SIC), the leading insurance company in the country. The match forms part of activities lined up by the Association for the year which is aimed at raising funds for the Association and the two Clubs. It is also to honour the late Mr Henry Plange Nyemitei, a Patron of SWAG and former Managing Director of SIC. The late Mr Nyemitei is regarded as one of the renowned sports administrators in Ghana after significant successes in administration. The statement said the Association is in further talks with the two sides to fine tune preparations for the match to ensure a successful event.
